Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is an American British musician and sitarist. She was the first person within her age bracket to receive the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Sitar Shankar, one of the Indian young sitar singer. She's the child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Born in London She spent her first few years of her life traveling between London and New Delhi. Her debut concert was on stage in New Delhi at the tender age of 13. Later, in Encinitas CA she attended high school. She graduated with distinction in the year 1999. The career of Anouskha as a musician and performer is remarkable, even at her young age. She is often seen performing with her dad and has been doing so for many years. In 1998, she released her debut single album Anourag. A year later, she dropped the Grammy nominated Live in Carnegie Hall. Her career on stage is extensive for she has appeared in all of the world's major venues. Anoushka's career goes beyond the realm of music. In 2002, she released a book entitled Bapi The love of My Live this is a picture-based biography, which is a honor to her late father Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she was a part as a character in Dance Like a Man as a Bharat Natyam artist. Anoushka is still progressing in her professional career, and there will be many other things to be expected from this talented lady. Anoushka was born in England however, she spent the majority of her youth in between London as well as Delhi. Then she moved to California and went to the high school there. At the age of 9 She began studying music with her father. The first time she performed on the sitar came in her 75th birthday celebration in Delhi in the year following. Anoushka's father toured around the globe with her, and she was able to gain many new opportunities. As she was at her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD music festival. She was the youngest woman to be awarded the House of Commons Shield, given by the British Parliament as recognition of her musical talent and artistic ability within the Asian Arts.
